Dear Reader, This past week, I facilitated the last Path of the Heart seminar of the year here in Granada, with participants from the US and the UK. I've been facilitating this seminar for more than 10 years, and this was possibly the seminar where I played the most music. Again and again, a song took us where words couldn't. I want to share the lyrics of one of the songs, The Sacred Way: You have to lose your mind to find your heart. THIS WEEK'S REFLECTION You Don't Have to Heal AloneMost of the participants came with one intention: to reconnect with their heart. What surprised some was where that led. As their hearts opened, they also reconnected with their own divinity. I think this is true for many of us. We spend years doing the inner work on our own. We heal, we let go, we try to surrender. And without noticing, even our spiritual path becomes one more thing we have to fix by trying harder. What we forget is how much help is available when we open to receive it. When you call on divine love, on God's grace, you're no longer doing the work alone. That's really what heart work is about. Reconnecting with your emotional, energetic, and spiritual heart, and through it, with the energy of love. A love that nurtures, cares for, and supports all of life. A love that is also an intelligence, the same intelligence that created the universe with such precision and made life itself possible. This is why, in my seminars, we bring together the science of the heart, somatic and energetic practices to heal old emotions, and a deep connection with your higher self, with Christ consciousness, with your divine essence, whatever you want to call it. And very often, what you've been trying so hard to heal on your own can heal in an instant, the moment you open yourself to receive divine love. Because ultimately, only love heals. THIS WEEK'S PRACTICE GO DEEPER The Seven Layers of PrayerWhat matters most in prayer isn't what you ask for. It's where you ask from. In this article, I share the seven levels of prayer from José Luis Stevens' book How to Pray the Shaman's Way. They move from fear-based prayers for survival, through gratitude and surrender, all the way to union with the divine. Each level reflects a different relationship with God, and a different level of consciousness. As you read, notice where your own prayers usually come from. You may discover why some prayers feel empty while others open your heart, and what it might feel like to pray from one level higher.
FINAL THOUGHTS Ask, Then ListenYour heart beats in two parts. One part contracts and sends blood out to your whole body. The other relaxes and receives it back. I like to think of these as the masculine and the feminine of the heart. One gives. The other receives. Prayer from the heart works the same way. First, you send out your prayer. Then, just as important, you stay open to receive. That takes deep listening. It takes presence. Most of us are good at the first part. We ask, we push, we try harder. But the second part is where the healing happens. It's where love comes in. Which brings me back to the song: Listen to your heart, listen to the silent sway, as it guides you back to the sacred way. So this week, ask — and then listen. This is the Way.

Gabriel Gonsalves's weekly inspiration, practical advice and spiritual wisdom for living wholeheartedly.
Read this on GabrielGonsalves.com Dear Reader, Have you ever wondered why it is often easier to meditate with a group of people than alone? Why stillness comes sooner, why you drop deeper, and why the experience can feel more profound than the same practice by yourself on your living room floor? Something is happening in that room beyond posture or technique. When two or more people gather with a shared, sincere intention, forces begin to move between them. Jesus pointed toward this when he...
Read this on GabrielGonsalves.com Dear Reader, This past Wednesday, I opened our Sacred Heart Meditation Circle, part of the Heart Mastery Community, by singing a new song I received this week. The song is called “The Sacred Way,” and it’s about returning to the spiritual heart. Throughout the performance, my knees were shaking, and my voice cracked more than once. You’d think that after years of singing in ceremonies and circles, there would be no shaking left in me by now. No cracking...
Read this on GabrielGonsalves.com Dear Reader, Dolly Parton died earlier this week. She had just turned eighty after a short fight with cancer, the same kind of short, sudden fight my sister and my mother each had with cancer of their own. The news landed hard even on people who never owned one of her records or could hum one of her songs. What stayed with me wasn’t the headline. It was learning what she’d actually given her life to: the foundation she built, and more than that, the care she...
